The IAFLL is seeking nominations from people who wish to serve on the new Executive Committee, which takes office on 1 August 2025, and runs for a term of two years.
The IAFLL Executive Committee consists of nine members: five officers (President, Vice President, Executive Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Officer), three Members-at-Large, and the Immediate Past President (who is a non-voting member). The five officers and immediate past president each serve for 2 years; Members-at-Large serve for 4 years.
The members of the current Executive Committee are:
- President: Jennifer Glougie (Labour Relations Board, British Columbia, Canada)
- Vice-President: Tammy Gales (Hofstra University, New York, USA)
- Executive Secretary: Felicity Deamer (Aston University, UK)
- Treasurer: Annina Heini (University of Melbourne, Australia)
- Communications Officer: David Wright (Nottingham Trent University, UK)
- Member-at-Large: Eliseu Mabasso (Eduardo Mondlane University, Maputo, Mozambique)
- Member-at-Large: Andrea Nini (University of Manchester, UK)
- Member-at-Large: Dana Roemling (University of Birmingham, UK)
- Immediate Past President: Isabel Picornell (QED Forensic Linguistics, Channel Islands)
We invite nominations for the posts of:
- Vice President (President-elect)
- Executive Secretary
- Communications Officer
- Treasurer
- Two Members-at-Large
The description and obligations of each role are available to read here. Please note, in order to be elected to the Executive Committee, a candidate must be a current member of the Association.
If you are interested in running for a position, please send a 150-word statement and the name of the position you are seeking to executive@iafll.org. The statement should be in the body of the email and should outline the nominee’s suitability for the post. If you wish to nominate somebody else, please consult with them first and have them submit their own statement. The deadline for nominations is Friday, 25 April 2025 by 17:00 BST.
We encourage people to check that their IAFLL membership is up to date, as is a requirement to stand and/or vote in the election.
A list of all candidates will be available for review on a members-only page on the IAFLL website by Thursday, 1 May 2025. Online voting will take place between Tuesday, 3 June 2025 – Monday, 9 June 2025. The new Executive Committee will be announced during the IAFLL business meeting at the biennial conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
